Outage expected, normal service to resume shortly...

Clare and I are shortly expecting the release of baby Carey, version 1.0. Actually at any moment. Normal service will resume shortly! In the meantime, some current thoughts:

I am currently teaching the MA Information Design students at the Department of Typography & Graphic Communication. They are already taking the brief I set them into areas I had not thought of.

Quark have announced Quark 7. OpenType support amongst other things. It is still InDesign for me though.

The lack of 'proper' posts

OK, what is a proper post anyway? Recently the Lift blog has turned into just a list of my del.icio.us bookmarks. Partly on purpose as the ease of posting to del.icio.us means I use it more than I thought I would (click bookmarklet, type tags, click submit, done). I 'jot down' rather than writing continuous text. Partly because life has been hectic recently with work and home, and I like to keep the blog ticking over, until I am next ready to post something 'proper'. What is a 'proper' post anyway...

skeuomorphs

Matt Patterson has posted a really interesting article on his website entitled Web design tools are skeuomorphs of print design tools, and this is a bad thing. All I need now is a bit of time to take it in and maybe write a little response...
