The cover of the fundraising brochure
The Oxford Centre for Buddhist Studies (OCBS) has taken shape over the last three years. It is an independent initiative and exists to contribute to Oxford University, Buddhist Studies and to the wider understanding of the Buddhist tradition. OCBS had initially been formed by volunteers and well wishers, which had resulted in no consistency and branding of their materials leaving an impression of lack of professionalism. To enable them to achieve their potential they needed to undergo a major fundraising initiative (of over £12,000,000) Lift were approached to produce a logo, brand, stationery, and brochure to enable OCBS to be seen as a major part of the Buddhist tradition today.
Through meetings with OCBS and Molineux Fundraising we where able to define a clear brief to reflect the western base of OCBS whilst also reflecting the history and symbolism of the Buddhist tradition. Lift produced a series of logos, colour palettes and type styles and worked with OCBS to strike the right contemporary, traditional and emotional balance required. Once the look and feel was agreed we developed a range of stationery and produced various brochure designs. The initial brief required a folder and fact sheets but given the nature of the project Lift recommended a more friendly square brochure format to help reflect the balance and harmony of the Buddhist tradition.
Feedback from OCBS has been excellent. They are well on their way to receiving the funding required and have been accepted long term within Oxford University.
