Grainger Trust forms

The brief

Grainger Trust has over 12,000 homes in the UK and while acquiring, managing and selling these properties they are also active in equity release, regeneration, property development, asset management and house building, and are currently expanding into Europe. As part of an internal business process review Grainger asked Lift to produce internal forms to help them assess, monitor and review employees. The forms where required in Microsoft Word so that they could be completed and stored electronically as well as be printed, emailed and shared across different workstations. The forms needed to be easy to use on screen and in print whilst reinforcing the Grainger brand.

The approach

Through meetings with Grainger and HeadLight Communications - Grainger's business process consultants - we where able to define the brief and set the technical and user requirements. Although some aspects of the forms where fixed to the appraisal process, we where able to advise on language and structure of the forms. Lift produced some initial designs to reinforce the Grainger brand and also be easy to read, use and understand. Once we had agreed the design, language and structure of the forms Lift then produced 'forms activated' MS Word files. We provided some basic guidance on using the forms for those users less familiar with MS Word.

The outcome

Feedback from Grainger has been extremely positive. Employees have been easily able to use the forms in a consistent manner and have managed to share and store the information easily and reliably. Employees are also becoming more aware of the Grainger brand and taking pride in the documents they produce. See our good practice guide Forms – the importance of getting it right
