The brief

Alongside printed marketing materials promoting new or updated journals, Oxford University Press required branded emails for a wide distribution. The emails would reach a world-wide audience and needed to reflect the branding of the particular journal. They should also be conscious of file size and email limitations. Work commenced January 2003.

The approach

For each email we reviewed the branding of the journal itself, to give ideas for imagery, colours and layout. We talked with the OUP Journal marketing department about the copy they wanted displayed, and any links used. A factor in the design was ensuring that the key information about the journal (name, launch date, summary, and offers) was placed prominently and viewable without scrolling.

The outcome

A series of branded emails which the marketing department could send out via their bulk email software. Emails were produced for the following journals: International Immunology Nucleic Acids Research (English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean) Glycobiology Molecular Biology & Evolution JAC Toxicological Sciences Return to web & electronic publishing
